Beer Flash Pasteurizer Sterilization Equipment

If sterilization is not carried out before filling, residual yeast: especially in secondary fermented beers or certain strains. Contaminants (contaminating bacteria) : such as lactic acid bacteria, acetic acid bacteria, etc., may come from equipment, pipelines or the environment. If these microorganisms are not killed, they will continue to grow and multiply in the packaged beer, causing the beer to: Spoilage: It produces unpleasant flavors such as sourness and sourness. Turbidity: Forms biological turbidity. Bulging can/burst bottle: Microorganisms continue to ferment and produce excessive carbon dioxide, causing the pressure inside the packaging container to be too high. Instantaneous sterilization can completely inactivate these microorganisms before filling, ensuring that the beer maintains stable flavor and quality throughout its shelf life (usually several months to a year). Retain the fresh flavor of the beer to the greatest extent

Description

Beer Flash Pasteurizer Sterilization Equipment

The working position and principle of the Flash Pasteurizer

Location: In the beer production line, the flash pasteurizer is arranged after the filtering step and before the filling link. Working principle: The beer is quickly heated to the sterilization temperature of 72°C to 74°C in just tens of seconds, then rapidly cooled to the temperature suitable for filling right away. Such rapid heating and cooling treatment can thoroughly remove yeast and most harmful bacteria contained in beer, while well retaining the original taste of beer.

Application

The application of flash pasteurizers covers a wide range of fields. Its core logic - short-duration high-temperature heating followed by rapid cooling - makes it perfect sterilization gear for heat-sensitive liquid foods and drinks.

This equipment is widely adopted across nearly all manufacturers of bottled liquid beverages.

Beer Industry

Usage: Sterilize beer prior to filling. This vital process safeguards the taste and shelf life of most bottled and canned lagers, serving as a gentler alternative to tunnel pasteurization after bottling, which ruins beer flavor easily. Goal: Eliminate yeast and bacteria, extend shelf life, and preserve beer's original flavor.

Juice & Pulpy Drinks Industry

Usage: Treat fruit/vegetable juices (orange, apple, tomato, etc.), fruit nectars and purees. Goal: Deactivate spoilage microbes like yeast, mold and endogenous enzymes to stop fermentation and deterioration. Compared with prolonged conventional heating, it better locks in fresh juice's flavor, color and vitamin C.

Dairy Industry

Usage: Flavored milk, formulated milk, milk drinks, light cream, ice cream base and more. Note: Standard pure milk mostly uses UHT sterilization, which shares the same core mechanism as flash pasteurization. Goal: Eradicate pathogenic and spoilage bacteria for food safety and longer shelf life.

Plant-Based Protein Drinks Industry

Usage: Soy milk, almond milk, walnut milk, oat milk, coconut juice and similar products. Goal: Destroy heat-resistant bacteria and spores to prevent rapid spoilage, and avoid unpleasant cooked or bean-like odors brought by long heating cycles.

Other Soft Drinks

Usage: Tea drinks, coffee drinks, functional beverages, energy drinks, and mineral water prone to contamination. Goal: Achieve commercial sterility so finished products can be stored and distributed under ambient temperature.

Advantage

1. Maximize flavor & quality retention (core strength) HTST working logic: Liquid heated 15–30s at high temp then fast cooled. Benefit: Less loss of taste, vitamins and color, fresher than tunnel pasteurization or long boiling. 2. High efficiency & continuous production Inline installation before filling supports 24h uninterrupted running. PLC automatic control precisely adjusts parameters to reduce manual mistakes. 3. Energy-saving & eco-friendly Plate heat exchanger recycles 90–95% heat between cold feed and hot sterilized liquid. Cuts steam and cooling water consumption to save running cost. 4. Stable sterilization performance Precise temp & flow control delivers uniform PU value, no under or over sterilization. 5. Wide application Works for heat-sensitive low/medium-viscosity liquids: beer, juice, dairy, tea, plant protein drinks, seasonings.

Parameter

Parameter Name (English) Typical Range / Target Purpose & Importance
Pasteurization Temperature 71°C - 74°C (160°F - 165°F) The critical temperature for efficient microbial kill. Too high damages flavor.
Holding Time / Residence Time 15 - 30 seconds The duration the beer is held at the target temperature to ensure microbial kill.
Pasteurisation Units (PU Value) 15 - 25 PU The ultimate goal. Quantifies the lethal effect, balancing safety and flavor.
Flow Rate Matches filler capacity (e.g., hl/h) A stable flow rate is essential for maintaining a consistent holding time (and thus PU value).
Holding Tube Pressure 4 - 6 bar (or higher) Prevents CO₂ breakout and beer from boiling, which would disrupt the process.
Outlet Temperature 0°C - 4°C (32°F - 39°F)

Cools the beer back to the required temperature for stable packaging.
