Clarification: Conditioning beer in a brite tank allows for further clarification of the beer. During this stage, the yeast and other sediment settle to the bottom of the tank, leaving the beer clear and bright.

Carbonation: Brite tanks are designed to hold pressure, which allows for carbonation of the beer. Brewers can add CO2 to the tank to reach the desired carbonation level.

Flavor development: During the conditioning process, the beer continues to mature, and the flavors and aromas develop further. The extended contact time with yeast and hops can also contribute to a more complex flavor profile.

Consistency: Conditioning beer in a brite tank allows for consistency in the final product. By controlling the temperature and pressure in the tank, brewers can ensure that each batch of beer is consistent in flavor, aroma, and appearance.

Longer shelf life: Properly conditioned beer has a longer shelf life than beer that has not been conditioned. Conditioning in a brite tank can extend the beer’s shelf life by reducing the amount of yeast and other sediment that can contribute to off-flavors and aromas.

Quality control: The use of a brite tank for conditioning beer allows for better quality control over the final product. The beer can be carefully monitored during the conditioning process, and adjustments can be made as needed to ensure that the beer meets the desired quality standards.

Aroma enhancement: Conditioning in a brite tank allows for the release of additional volatile aroma compounds, which can improve the overall aroma and bouquet of the beer.

Step Of Brite Tank

Fermentation

After the wort has been boiled and hops have been added, the mixture is cooled and transferred to a fermentation vessel where yeast is added.

Conditioning

Once primary fermentation is complete, the beer is conditioned to develop flavors and reduce unwanted compounds.

Clarification

The beer is held at a low temperature to allow any remaining yeast and particles to settle out, resulting in a clear product.

Transfer to Brite Tank

The beer is then transferred to a brite tank for carbonation and clarification.

Carbonation

In the brite tank, CO2 is added to the beer to achieve the desired carbonation level.

Packaging

Finally, the beer is either kegged, bottled, or canned directly from the brite tank.

FAQ

Q: How long does beer stay in a Brite tank?

A: While it would take around two weeks for beer to clarify and carbonate in a conical fermenter, a bright beer tank needs less than two days. Typical breweries have one brite tank for every four to five conicals. A special dished bottom collects the leftover yeast, letting you draw clear beer down to the very last drop.

Q: Can you ferment in a Brite tank?

A: For fermentation, aging, or maturation, brite tanks and unitanks are both good choices.

Q: What is the purpose of a fermentation tank?

A: Fermentation tanks are also called fermentation vessels, which store wort and ferment the wort into beer. Even in the humblest home-based brewery, the fermentation tank is an essential part. Almost any container that can hold liquid can become a potential fermenter.

Q: What temperature is a Brite tank?

A: A brite tank AKA serving tank or secondary tank, is a vessel in which beer is placed after primary fermentation and filtering. Usually set to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, its used to clarify, carbonate and further mature a beer.

Q: How to serve from a Brite tank?

A: A bright beer tank, is like a serving tank, but it is jacketed and not in a cold room. It can sit right in the same room as your brewhouse. If you want to serve out of it, you need a separate glycol trunk line connecting from the tank to your beer taps. Or, you need to fill kegs from it and serve out of them.

Q: What is the difference between a fermenter and a Brite tank?

A: Free up Fermenters
If you are bottling, canning, or kegging a brewery will typically have one brite tank for every 4-5 fermenters. Beer will usually spend 2 days in a brite tank to clarify and adjust carbonation levels while most fermenters hold the beer for 10-20 days.

As one of the leading brite tank manufacturers and suppliers in China, we warmly welcome you to buy high-grade brite tank for sale here from our factory. All machines are with high quality and competitive price.
