Compression Process (Core):
Low-temperature, low-pressure refrigerant gas is drawn into the scroll compressor.
Inside the compressor, one scroll orbitally moves against another fixed scroll, creating a series of crescent-shaped gas pockets that continuously move toward the center while decreasing in volume.
The refrigerant gas is progressively compressed within these pockets, transforming into high-temperature, high-pressure gas.
Condensation Process (Heat Rejection):
The high-temperature, high-pressure refrigerant gas enters the water-cooled condenser.
In the condenser, the refrigerant undergoes heat exchange with cooler cooling water supplied from the cooling tower.
The refrigerant transfers its heat to the cooling water, cooling down and condensing into a medium-temperature, high-pressure liquid. The heated cooling water is then pumped to the cooling tower, where it releases heat to the atmosphere before being recirculated.
Expansion Process:
The high-pressure liquid refrigerant passes through an expansion valve (or electronic expansion valve).
The valve causes a sharp pressure drop, flashing part of the liquid into gas, resulting in a low-temperature, low-pressure mixture of liquid and vapor.
Evaporation Process (Heat Absorption):
The low-temperature, low-pressure refrigerant mixture enters the evaporator.
In the evaporator, the refrigerant exchanges heat with the chilled water that requires cooling.
The refrigerant absorbs heat from the chilled water, completely evaporating into low-temperature, low-pressure gas.
The cooled chilled water (typically leaving at 7°C) is then pumped to terminal units (such as fan coil units or air handling units) to provide cooling for the space.
Return to the Start:
The resulting low-temperature, low-pressure refrigerant gas is once again drawn into the scroll compressor, initiating a new cycle.
